The Department of Fuels and Energy Engineering was established in 2019 to contribute to the production and supply of sustainable energy by providing training and practical skills for research, innovation, industrialization and commercialization. Sustainable extraction, processing and utilization of energy resources to meet the ever increasing energy demand is the main challenge facing humanity. Energy production and utilization is characterized by inevitable production of pollutants and wastes which are a threat to the environment and human life. One of the main goals of the department is to produce specialist engineers who will not only produce energy but contribute to efficient and sustainable ways of energy production and utilization through research and development. The degree programs we offer focus on the production of research and development orientated engineers who are able to solve energy, electrical and electronic engineering problems to achieve sustainable economic development, and empowerment of society through the application of sound theoretical and practical knowledge.

The Department has two undergraduate degree programs:

  • Bachelor of Engineering Honours Degree in Fuels and Energy Engineering
  • Bachelor of Engineering Honours Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering

The vision of the department is to expand by introducing post graduate degree programs starting with Electrochemistry and Battery Technology, Renewable Energy , Solar Energy  and Electrical power Engineering.
