Mercy Chaparadza obtained her BSc Honors Degree in Chemical Technology from Midlands State University, Zimbabwe, graduating with First Class Honors. During her undergraduate studies, she received the Midlands State University Book Prize and the Zimbabwe Chemical Society Prize for Best Student in Chemical Technology (2021).

She subsequently completed a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Chemistry at Midlands State University. Her thesis, titled “Engineering Flexibility in MIL-88-Type MOFs and Developing UiO-66-Based Biocatalysts via Enzyme Immobilization,” focused on the design of advanced metal–organic framework materials for sustainable applications. During her MPhil studies, she undertook a six-month research internship at the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research, Germany.

Mercy has actively participated in international scientific meetings, including the 74th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting. She is currently preparing to begin her PhD in Chemistry at the University of Cambridge as a Schlumberger Foundation Faculty for the Future Fellow.
