HEALTH SERVICES DEPARTMENT
POST A: REGISTERED GENERAL NURSE (Gweru x2 posts, Zvishavane x1)
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- A registered general Nurse with a Diploma / Degree in General Nursing.
- A post-basic qualification is an added advantage
- Applicants should be registered with the Nurses Council of Zimbabwe and in possession of a valid practising certificate.
- Forensic training for dispensing an added advantage
- 2 years’ experience as a Registered General Nurse
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Patient consultation, examination, diagnosis and treatment being assisted by the University Doctors as necessary.
- Dispensing of medicines, patient counselling, compiling statistics and emergency response.
- Ensuring compliance to effective infection prevention and control systems
- Provide holistic nursing which meet the patient’s physical, psychological and social needs.
- Maintain confidential, detailed and accurate records of patients’ conditions, diagnosis and therapeutic interventions done.
- Ensure the clients gain access to services they require and that the care needed is well coordinated e.g. proper referral system
- Attend student trips, sports events and other University events as health/emergency personnel.
- Any other clinical/nursing duties as assigned.
POST B: DISPENSARY ASSISTANT (Gweru x1)
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- 5 Ordinary level passes
- A relevant qualification in dispensing practice
- 1-year relevant working experience
- The candidate must be a team player who possesses good leadership, communication and interpersonal skills at all levels within and outside the University.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Working with the dispensing Nurses ensuring that the clinic dispensary is well stocked. Facilitating movement of medicines from the drug storeroom to the dispensary.
- Dispensary maintenance involving: drawing up bin cards and stock cards, continued upkeep of cold chain principles, flagging stock with less than 3months expiry and facilitating quick movement of such stock, calculating average monthly consumptions (AMC) of medicines thereby watching against drug stock outs,
- Guaranteeing medicines safety by ensuring that we dispense registered, non-expired drugs and the giving of proper explanation to patients on how to take their medicines.
- Ensuring that the dispensary stocks medicines within our clinic registration class.
- Accountability of medicines in stock and those dispensed; Record keeping on medicines movement from the dispensary to the patient. Carry out monthly/regular stock takes of the dispensary and drug room.
- Preparing and labelling pill packs making sure that there are ready for dispensing. Perform all duties according to the regulation and requirements of Medicines Control Authority of Zimbabwe (MCAZ) and Ministry of Health and Child Care (MoHCC).
- Ensures that there is no unauthorized entry into the dispensary.
- Any other duties as may be delegated by the superiors
POST C: DRUG STORES ASSISTANT (Gweru x1)
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- 5 O-Levels passes
- Certificate in Pharmacy or Dispensary Assistance
- At least 2-years relevant working experience
- Experience in a Pharmaceutical Procurement and Supply Chain management environment and added advantage.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Includes the following and other duties that may be assigned as appropriate
- Working as part of the health department medicines management team maintaining medicines stocks, engaging suppliers through the procurement system and ultimately getting the required medicines and supplies.
- Working with other departments such as bursary, procurement, central stores and accounts to ensure efficient medicine procurement, delivery, storage and distribution.
- Drug storeroom maintenance involving: drawing up bin cards and stock cards, continued upkeep of cold chain principles, flagging stock with less than 3months expiry and facilitating quick movement of such stock, calculating average monthly consumptions (AMC) of medicines thereby watching against drug stock outs, medicines safety and accountability.
- Monitoring movements of stock through the Pastel system as well as participating in routine audits.
- Facilitating acquisition of medicines through Zimbabwe Assisted Pull System (ZAPS)
- Facilitating movement of medicines from the drug stores to the dispensary as well as amongst our multiple campus clinics.
- Perform all duties according to the regulation and requirements of Medicines Control Authority of
- Zimbabwe (MCAZ) and Ministry of Health and Child Care (MoHCC).
POST D: NURSE IN CHARGE (Harare x1)
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- A qualified Registered General Nurse with a diploma or degree in nursing.
- 5 O level passes
- Current valid registration certificate with the Nurses council of Zimbabwe.
- 1 years’ experience in a similar/equivalent position in any health institution
- A post-basic or management qualification is an added advantage
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Nurse in-charge of the day to day running of their resident health facility as a nurse manager.
- Ensures compliance with best clinical practices to do with Infection prevention and control (during patient care), staff upkeep with standard health guidelines, record keeping and emergency response & preparedness.
- Oversees the preparation of, compliance to and operationalization of departmental staff duty rota; is responsible for health coverage for sporting events, university events, wellness programs and trips.
- Monitors upkeep to the Departmental SOPs when carrying out day to day activities.
- Participates in the actual patient care and treatment as a nurse.
- Organises clinical meetings regularly where the department discusses interesting cases attended to, in a bid to learn from these experiences and improve service delivery.
- Provide channels of follow up on the care of referred students to check on their progress and their continuous support in the provision of care where ever they could be admitted.
- Assigns responsible persons to accurately and timely compile and submit statistics to the MOHCW,
- City Health and NAC as well as internal record keeping.
