POST: DISPENSARY ASSISTANT (2 POSTS)

Job Purpose: 

The incumbent will partake in the procurement, storage and dispensing process of medicines and consumables for University campus clinics as part of a multi-disciplinary health services team. The Dispensary Assistant will also spearhead stock management, ensuring accountability and record keeping. The position has the responsibility of ensuring compliance to principles of getting Safe, Efficacious, Quality, Affordable and properly registered medicines from licensed – reputable suppliers. 

Location:  Gweru Main Campus Clinic (Post 1) 

Qualifications 

  • 5 O-Levels passes
  • A relevant qualification in dispensing practice (PharmTech/ Dispensary Assistant)
  • 1-year Relevant working experience (previous experience or attachment within MSU Health Services an added advantage)
  • Computer literacy and proficiency a must
  • The candidate must be a team player who possesses good leadership, communication and interpersonal skills at all levels within and outside the University.

Duties and Responsibilities

Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned as appropriate

  • Working with the dispensing Nurses ensuring that the clinic dispensary is well stocked.
  • Facilitating movement of medicines from the drug storeroom to the dispensary.
  • Dispensary maintenance involving: drawing up bin cards and stock cards, continued upkeep of cold chain principles, flagging stock with less than 3 months expiry and facilitating quick movement of such stock, calculating average monthly consumptions (AMC) of medicines thereby watching against drug stock outs, medicines safety and accountability.
  • Preparing and labeling pill packs thereby making sure that there are ready for dispensing
  • Record keeping on medicines movement from the dispensary to the patient.
  • Perform all duties according to the regulation and requirements of MCAZ and MoHCC
