RISK AND LOSS CONTROL DEPARTMENT
POST A: RISK ADMINISTRATOR
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Risk Management Degree or equivalent.
- At least one year experience in the risk management section.
COMPETENCIES
- Computer proficiency.
- Honest, reliable and good communication skills.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Risk identification and assessment with management at departmental level.
- Assisting the Risk Manager in development of key risks and control indicators
- Managing and monitoring the University ‘s insurance portfolio and ensuring adequate insurance coverage for all the university assets and at right values,
- Attending to timeous renewal of insurance policies for the University and staff members,
- Processing insurance claims and assist in third party recovery,
- Providing claims statistics for all policies showing loss ratios and claim experience,
- Assisting in Pre-loss and post-loss risk management surveys and recommending appropriate corrective action,
- Developing and negotiating policy language to address risk and exposures of the institution and review policies for accuracy
- Communicating regularly with insurance companies, beneficiaries, and more to prepare claim forms and other related documentation,
- Reviewing insurance requirements proposed in various leases, client agreements and vendor contracts,
- Assessment of pension and medical aid policies in accordance with institution guidelines and regulations,
- Responsible for recording and documenting the minutes during meetings and disseminating them in a timely manner.
- Providing support in the following areas:
- Developing products and writing reports, including editing and copyediting.
- Developing end-state presentation materials.
- Writing a variety of technical articles, reports, brochures and/or manuals for documentation for a wide range of uses.
- Coordinating the display of graphics and the production of the document.
POST B: ENTERPRISE RISK ANALYST
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Risk Management Degree or equivalent.
- At least one year experience in the Risk Management section
COMPETENCIES
- Computer proficiency.
- Honest, reliable and good communication skills.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performing risk identification and assessment with management at departmental level.
- Monitoring implementation of plans to prevent, eliminate and mitigate risks.
- Assist Risk Manager in development of key risk and control indicators.
- Coordinating with management in performing risk reviews.
- Tracking and monitoring operating risks issues for departments.
- Reporting operational risk issues and decisions to management on regular basis.
- Assisting in identifying and evaluating risk areas across the organizational activities.
- Investigating root causes of risks and provide support to mitigate risks.
- Developing strong relationship with the key stakeholders and business partners by addressing issues/concerns in timely manner.
- Keeping abreast of risk management techniques and industry best practices.
POST C: SHE ADMINISTRATOR
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- A relevant degree related in Safety, Health and Environment or Geography and Environmental Studies/Science
- The ideal candidate should have at least one year working experience in the SHE section
COMPETENCIES
- Computer proficiency.
- Honest, reliable and good communication skills.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Formulate safety policies and procedures
- Provide administration support in the department
- Compile Safety, Health and Environment Statistics for review
- Assist to review important safety documents
- Communicate with clients and employees, and respond to any queries or complaints.
- Procure stationery and Personal Protective Equipment for the department
- Take minutes at meetings
- Review and coordinate risk assessments, registers (team in box queries), incident reports, and audits reports
- Organize monthly/ departmental (sectional) team meetings and solve safety issues
- Coordinate audits and inspections
- Track corrective action plans and incident data
- Review important safety documents
- Keep record of all the department legal appointments
- Plan and conduct safety drills with workplace staff
- Train workplace personnel to deal with any kind of emergency
- Creating safety manuals
- Coordinating safety training and campaigns
POST D: SERGEANT (I/C CAMPUS)
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- At least 5 ‘O’ levels including English Language.
- At least 5 years’ experience with MSU.
- Computer appreciation.
- A diploma in any security related field will be an added advantage.
- A clean record of service with MSU.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Administration and operational management of the campus.
- Supervise all corporals in their daily activities.
- Issue operational orders in line with unfolding events.
- Compliance with all administrative procedures and lawful instructions given by superiors.
- Enforce orders and routine and carry out random spot checks on points of duty ensuring that service delivery is in line with set standards.
- Providing advice and support to the University community on security matters.
- Attend or cause to be attended all incidences of security interest that occur during the course of duty and ensure reports are written and forwarded accordingly.
- Identify performance deficiencies by subordinates and ensure on-the job training for improved performance or refer for further training.
- Creating a conducive atmosphere to promote a healthy learning environment.
- Maintain official books and records for the loss control section.
- Maintain departmental assets, their records, movement and usage at specific points.
- Represent the risk and loss control department in some university committees with an interest in loss control management.
- Performance of any other lawful duty that may be assigned from time to time.
- The candidate should be mature, a self-starter, physically fit and can withstand extended hours.
