Underpinned by the social determinants of health framework, maternal risk is evaluated in four dimensions: maternal characteristics, health systems and services factors, socio-economic and environmental determinants.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The goal of MOM is to elucidate the geographical influences that are related to adverse maternal outcomes. The project creates an integrated picture of local maternal health risk, using Geographical Information Systems (GIS) a uniquely integrative mix of hardware, software and analyses that enable spatial epidemiology, or the geo-visualization of the distribution and determinants of health phenomena.
