POST:  INTERNATIONAL AND ALUMNI RELATIONS MANAGER 

JOB SUMMARY 

Reporting to the Executive Dean of Student Affairs, the International and Alumni Relations Manager is responsible for overseeing the activities and programs of the MSU International and Alumni Office.  The incumbent should display great attention to detail and a sound understanding of strategies to be developed in the recruitment of international students and resource mobilisation activities working together with MSU Alumni.  

The ideal candidate should be well versed and passionate about internationalisation, marketing, brokering partnerships, resource mobilisation, innovation and industrialisation.  

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE 

  • A relevant good Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in Business Sciences or Social Sciences.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in academia/administration in Higher and Tertiary Education or industry equivalent. 
  • Must have a portfolio showing capability in implementing income generating activities. The applicant must prove ability in successfully developing and implementing resource generating strategies.
  • Demonstrate ability to foster strong industry linkages and effective stakeholder engagement. 
  • Shall have exposure in a multicultural and or multinational environment which fosters diversity.
  • Participation in collaborations and the establishment of partnership through MOUs or equivalent is a must.

Professional skills and personal attributes

  • Ability to liaise with alumni and develop business marketing strategies accordingly.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong grasp of the concept and agenda of internationalisation of higher and tertiary institutions or industry equivalent.
  • Ability to spearhead and broker partnerships with the MSU Alumni community.
  • Affinity for interculturality: willingness and ability to work with an internationally diverse student and staff population and demonstrate cultural sensitivity at all times.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recruitment of international students.
  • Organising international student experience and welfare activities, such as tourism activities, cultural and linguistic immersion activities, trips, welcome and farewell ceremonies, independence celebrations, carnivals, cultural exhibitions.
  • Spearheading and brokering partnerships with MSU Alumni community and coordinating their programmes.
  • Coordinating all the admission, registration and immigration processes of international students. 
  • Monitoring the MSU Alumni database and maintaining the list of MSU Alumni subscriptions including graduate tracer studies.
  • Evaluating the development and implementation of MOUs, MOAs, collaborations and partnerships with international stakeholders.  
  • Building rapport and strong relationships with the Alumni stakeholders.
