MSU Radio

The regulator Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe (BAZ) licensed MSU Radio in 2021. The station was allocated two frequencies, one in Zvishavane at 90.3 FM and another in Gweru at 101.7 FM.

MSU Radio manned shifts started on February 18, 2023. At the moment the station is on air every day of the week from 0600hrs to 2100hrs broadcasting programmes such as; Breakfast Show, Mid-Morning Show, Lunchtime listening, Drive Time Show and The After Drive.

The station has a staff complement of full-time producers/presenters and interns. The station is housed at Number 1, Sapphire Lane, Chinda Heights in Zvishavane.

MSU Radio has a state-of-the-art audio-visual studio and outside broadcast equipment that is usable for studio broadcasts and live streaming. The live streaming function has a global reach and is accessible via the website and MSU Radio Facebook platform. All broadcast equipment installed and used at MSU Radio is powered by Lawo, a German-based company one of the few reputable companies worldwide that designs and manufactures pioneering IP-based video and audio technology for broadcast production, live performance and theatre applications.

To date, the station has successfully covered outside broadcast events such as the MSU Gender Conference, MSU 2022 Graduation Ceremony, The Inaugural Presidential Innovation Fair in Harare, the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair, Midlands Agricultural Show, Harare Agricultural Show among others.  MSU has a multi-campus system, the plan is to have radio coverage in areas where the university has campuses such as in Kwekwe, Harare and Bulawayo.

MSU Radio does not only serve as a learning centre for MSU students only but is also open to students from other centres as can be witnessed by the presence of student interns from CCOSA and UZ.

MSU Radio aims at being one of the champion drivers of Education 5.0 by empowering students and the community at with skills and knowledge that limit them to be competent job seekers but also very competent job creators. After all the Station’s pay offline, “Transforming Communities!”  couldn’t have said it better.

 Furthermore the station aims at being one of the central learning centres through programming that is beneficial to learners at both higher and lower educational institutions. School leavers and disadvantaged communities are also catered for in the programming.

The station also aims at being a creator of employment in fields such as broadcasting, records keeping, catering services, ITS, Loss Control among others.
