The duties and responsibilities of a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate
Professor/Professor and Staff Development Fellows are grouped into 5 main categories which are:
(a)Teaching–the incumbent is expected to teach or deliver lectures in accordance to the Department and or Faculty guidelines and standards.
(b)University Service and Community engagement–the incumbent should participate in all Department, Faculty/School and University activities such as attending meetings, training workshops, conferences and seminars, among others
(c)Research–the incumbent is expected to engage in active research in his/her area of specialization which benefits both the students and the University.
(d)Innovations–leading to tangible products and services
(e)Industrialisation–through commercialization of products
FACULTY OF ENGINEERING AND GEOSCIENCES, ZVISHAVANE CAMPUS
Department of Geosciences
Post A: Mineral Exploration Geologist or Geoscientist (Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor – 1 Post)
Qualifications
- An Honors degree in Geology or GIS (2.1 Degree Class Pass)
- A Masters Degree qualification in Geology with specialization in Mineral Exploration or Mineral Resource Evaluation.
- PhD is an added advantage
- Relevant industry experience and research experience are highly valued.
Duties & Responsibilities
- The candidate must be able to teach computer software applications in mineral exploration.
- Must be capable of supervising both undergraduate and postgraduate students’ research work and assess students on Work Related Learning.
Post B: Geophysicist (Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor – 2 Posts)
Qualifications
- An Honors degree in Physics or Geology (2.1 Degree Class Pass)
- A Masters Degree qualification in Geophysics.
- A PhD or proof of progress towards a PhD in Geophysics will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of computational and simulation packages.
- Registration with a recognized professional body will be an added advantage
Duties & Responsibilities
- The candidate must be capable of teaching any two of the following areas undergraduate and postgraduate level: General geophysics, Induced polarization and resistivity, Seismic wave and ray theory, Seismic exploration methods, Induced polarization and resistivity, Potential fields and electrical methods data processing and laboratory.
- Ability to interact with industry and academic partners (domestic and international) and interest in creating and maintaining connections with major industrial and academic players within the broader physics community.
Post C: Teaching Assistant (1 Post)
Qualifications
- An Honors degree in Geology (2.1 Degree Class Pass)
Duties & Responsibilities
- The candidate must be able to teach Geochemistry and other modules in Geology/ Geosciences, and proof of progress towards a Masters degree is a requirement.
