User Support Technician (2 Posts)
Qualifications and Experience
- A National Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- At least 1–2 years’ experience in an ICT support or helpdesk environment.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g. CompTIA A+, Network+, ITIL) are an added advantage.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide first and second line ICT support to university staff and students.
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot desktops, laptops, printers, and other ICT peripherals.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and operating system faults in a timely manner.
- Support Microsoft Office 365 and other institutional systems.
- Log, track, escalate, and resolve ICT incidents and service requests using the university helpdesk system.
- Assist users with network connectivity issues, including LAN and Wi-Fi access.
- Demonstrate basic programming and scripting knowledge (e.g. Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar) to automate repetitive tasks, perform basic system checks, and assist in troubleshooting.
- Assist in developing or maintaining simple scripts, tools, or macros to improve ICT support efficiency and reporting.
- Support ICT systems and applications by performing basic debugging, configuration checks, and log analysis.
- Perform routine system maintenance, updates, and basic security checks on end-user devices.
- Manage user accounts, access rights, and passwords in accordance with ICT policies.
- Provide basic user training and guidance on ICT systems and best practices.
- Assist in ICT asset management, inventory control, and equipment deployment.
- Support ICT activities during examinations, virtual meetings, and university events.
- Adhere to ICT policies, procedures, and information security standards.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the ICT Managers or Director.
