The duties and responsibilities of a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor and Professor are grouped into 5 main categories which are:
(a) Teaching – the incumbent is expected to teach or deliver lectures in accordance to the Department and or Faculty guidelines and standards.
(b) University Service and Community engagement – the incumbent should participate in all Department, Faculty/School and University activities such as attending meetings, training workshops, conferences and seminars, among others.
(c) Research – the incumbent is expected to engage in active research in his/her area of specialization which benefits both the students and the University.
(d) Innovations – leading to tangible products and services
(e) Industrialization –through commercialization of products
FACULTY OF ENGINEERING AND GEOSCIENCES, ZVISHAVANE CAMPUS
DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
Mechanical Engineering Technical Assistant/ Technician/Senior Technician – Draughtsperson (1 post – Full time)
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering: Draughting and Designing
- National Certificate in Draughting and design Technology.
- A BTech/BEng/BSc Degree in Mechanical/Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering will be an added advantage
- At least 2 years hands-on experience in creating detailed engineering drawings of mechanical parts/ assemblies for projects working with CAD?CAM software (AutoCAD,PTC Creo/ProEngineer, Ansys, MathCAD, Mastercam etc)
- Experience as a trainer or instructor at higher education or tertiary education levels will be advantageous.
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate would be required among other things to: –
- Design and set up a drawing office.
- Install, test and commission computer aided drawing equipment.
- Repair and maintain office drawing equipment/tools.
- Coordinate and supervise drawing and CAD laboratory practicals.
- Assist students and staff in research and third-stream income projects.
