The duties and responsibilities of a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor and Professor are grouped into 5 main categories which are:
(a) Teaching – the incumbent is expected to teach or deliver lectures in accordance to the Department and or Faculty guidelines and standards.
(b) University Service and Community engagement – the incumbent should participate in all Department, Faculty/School and University activities such as attending meetings, training workshops, conferences and seminars, among others.
(c) Research – the incumbent is expected to engage in active research in his/her area of specialization which benefits both the students and the University.
(d) Innovations – leading to tangible products and services
(e) Industrialization –through commercialization of products
FACULTY OF ENGINEERING AND GEOSCIENCES, ZVISHAVANE CAMPUS
DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
Post 5: Mechanical Engineering Technical Assistant/ Technician/Senior Technician – Fitter and Turner/Fitter Machinist (1 Post – Full time)
Qualifications
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
- National Certificate in Fitting and Turning/ Fitter Machinist
- Journeyman Class 1 in Fitting Including Machining
- A BTech/BEng/BSc Degree in Mechanical/Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering will be an added advantage
- At least 2 years experience in workshop practice, industrial/plant design and machining, machine maintenance and repair, welding and workshop supervision.
- Experience as a trainer or instructor at higher education or tertiary education levels will be advantageous.
Duties & Responsibilities
The successful candidate would be required among other things to: –
- Design and set up a boiler making workshop
- Install, test and commission new machinery
- Repair and maintain workshop machinery and equipment/tools
- Train students and conduct research
The candidate must be capable of supervising undergraduate students’ research work, assess students on Work Related Learning and should be able to teach modules in Mechanical Engineering.
