POST A: Medical Laboratory Scientist – Histology Section

Qualifications and experience

• A minimum requirement of a degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences 
• Current registration with the Medical Laboratory and Clinical Scientists Council of Zimbabwe (MLCSCZ) 
• At least 1 year of working experience in a histology laboratory post qualification. 
• Familiarization with Cut-Up techniques will be an added advantage 
• An appreciation of the implementation ISO 15189:2022 standards 
• Good understanding of laboratory information systems and automated laboratory equipment. 
• Attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure
• Effective communication and teamwork skills

Duties and responsibilities

• Receive, process, and prepare histology specimens for examination
• Perform gross examination and dissection of specimens
• Cut and prepare tissue sections for histological staining and examination
• Operate and maintain histology equipment, including microtomes and cryostats
• Ensure accurate labeling and tracking of specimens
• Collaborate with pathologists and other laboratory staff to ensure efficient workflow
• Maintain a safe and organized work environment
• Adhere to quality control and quality assurance procedures
