Thursday 22, February 2024 saw Midlands State University through its Centre for Public Policy and Devolution holding a consultative meeting at Gweru Main Campus with Chikomba Rural District Council aimed at establishing collaborative networks to strengthen the council’s governance and service delivery.
The objective of the meeting was to map a path towards the establishment of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
During her opening remarks, Coordinator – Centre for Public Policy and Devolution, Mrs. Virginia Makanza, highlighted that the main agenda of the meeting was to establish a collaborative framework that would enhance Chikomba Rural District Council’s capacity in terms of effective governance and service delivery.
“Midlands State University staff across its ten faculties has the requisite experience that can creatively respond to public sector capacity development needs,” said Mrs. Makanza.
During the meeting, various areas of collaboration were discussed including research and development, capacity development, waste management, digitalisation, agriculture, integration of Geographic Information System (GIS) and policy making.
Chikomba RDC – Chief Executive Officer Mr. B.T Chiwara expressed optimism for the collaboration in advancing the district’s development.
“We have various ongoing projects in Chikomba District such as farming, mining and road construction which are set to benefit from your expertise,” indicated Mr. B .T. Chiwara.
Chikomba Rural District Council was represented by Chief Executive Officer – Mr. B.T Chiwara, Chief Executive Officer – Human Resource Admin and Social Service, Mr. T. Chiriga and Council Chairperson, Mr. A.I. Dhikinya.
