ABOUT US

The Faculty of Built Environment, Art and Design is the tenth faculty in the university. The establishment of the new faculty marks a milestone in the university’s human capital development endeavour so as to address the skills shortages which were identified in the 2018 National Critical Skills Audit Report, under the Engineering and Technology sector. Our vision is for the faculty to be the academic and consulting faculty of first choice in the built environment sector, nationally and beyond.

The faculty has the following departments which are well poised to contribute to the aspirations of NDS1 and for the overall attainment of Vision 2030 goals:

  • Architecture,
  • Civil Engineering,
  • Estate Management,
  • Quantity Surveying,
  • Regional and Urban Planning and,
  • Surveying and Geomatics,

The new faculty intends to tap into the Heritage Based Development philosophy for the provision of modern rural and urban infrastructure through eco-friendly designs, locally produced materials, latest water and sewerage treatment processes. These interventions will result in world class healthcare facilities, interactive learning spaces and smart housing systems.

The new faculty will operate from our Kwekwe campus. The human capital within this faculty has the potential to design and oversee the development of an ultra-modern campus, based on the smart city concept, which will house futuristic student and staff accommodation and related amenities
