Post J: Assistant Mechanic (3 Posts: 2 Zvishavane; 1 Harare)
Qualifications and Experience
- Class 2 or 3 Journeyman Certificate in Motor Mechanics
- A minimum of 2 years’ professional work experience as a Motor Mechanic
- Knowledge of different vehicle models, construction equipment and heavy-duty generators that include John Deere, Cummings and Perkins
Key Responsibilities
- Ensuring reliability, safety, and efficiency across all vehicles and generators.
- Regular inspection, diagnosis, and remedy of defects
- Coordinated servicing through the Transport Office
- In-house maintenance, repairs, and servicing where feasible
- Recommendation and procurement of spare parts
- Accurate record-keeping of operations and maintenance
- Oversight of external service providers’ work quality
- Commitment to after-hours availability
- Contributes to departmental success by performing all essential duties as assigned.
