Midlands State University’s Faculty of Education bolstered its academic arsenal at the Gweru Main Campus on 9 April 2026 through a strategic book donation from Dr. K. Vere, designed to accelerate the institution’s transformative research thrust under the Heritage-based Education 5.0 philosophy.
The donation, facilitated in absentia by the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of the Institute of Entrepreneurship of Zimbabwe, provides a critical resource intended to strengthen the University’s burgeoning research ecosystem.
Welcoming the contribution, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Education Dr. S.S. Mashingaidze underscored the faculty’s unwavering commitment to fostering transformative research that translates into tangible outcomes.
Research serves as the central pillar of the University’s mission, driven by a mandate to produce impactful knowledge that aligns with national development goals.
Executive Dean of the Faculty of Education Dr. A. Moyo highlighted that the donated publication, Research Made Easy: An Afrocentric Handbook for Students and Supervisors of Academic Research, speaks directly to the faculty’s objective of producing locally relevant and heritage-based knowledge.
“As a faculty, we take pride in promoting research that responds to the needs of our communities while maintaining academic rigour,” affirmed Dr Moyo.
The faculty’s momentum in this field is further evidenced by its own recent publication, Research Methodology: A Step-by-Step Student Handbook, which reinforces its role as a leader in academic excellence.
Professor M. Maphosa, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Administration, commended the faculty for its relentless dedication to advancing research that delivers significant societal impact.
The proceedings culminated in the official handover of the volumes to the University Library, a move symbolising a unified commitment to sustainable knowledge production.
