Post : REGIONAL AND URBAN PLANNING OFFICE TECHNICIAN (1 Post)

Qualifications

  • A National Diploma in Regional and Urban Planning or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution. 
  • A Higher National Diploma in Regional and Urban Planning will be an added advantage. 
  • A minimum of five (5) Ordinary Level passes, including Mathematics, English Language, and Science. 
  • At least two (2) years of relevant post-qualification experience in the public or private sector. 
  • Demonstrable proficiency in Computer-Aided Design software, including AutoCAD and ArchiCAD. 
  • Proficiency in rendering and visualisation software such as Twinmotion, Lumion, and Artlantis. 
  • Strong technical drawing and drafting skills. 
  • Sound knowledge of regional and urban planning drafting, layout design, subdivision planning, and building design. 
  • Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software will be an added advantage. 
  • Good communication, interpersonal, organisational, and teamwork skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

Duties & Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities will include the following:

  • Providing technical support to the Design Studio Lecturer and students in practical planning, design, and studio-based activities. 
  • Assisting the Design Studio Lecturer in the preparation and delivery of studio-based teaching, demonstrations, and practical sessions. 
  • Assisting students in the preparation of technical drawings, design layouts, presentations, and project submissions using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software. 
  • Assisting in the preparation of regional and urban planning maps, plans, diagrams, presentations, and visualisation materials for teaching, research, and consultancy purposes. 
  • Producing 3D models, renderings, and visual presentations using relevant visualisation software to support teaching, learning, research, and community engagement activities. 
  • Maintaining and managing the planning studio, drawing equipment, computers, software, and related technical resources to ensure their effective operation. 
  • Training and assisting students in the use of CAD, visualisation, rendering, and presentation software. 
  • Assisting in the organisation and preparation of design reviews, exhibitions, presentations, and other studio-related activities. 
  • Assisting in fieldwork preparation, data collection, mapping, and spatial analysis activities undertaken by the Department. 
  • Providing technical assistance in research, consultancy, innovation, industrialisation, and community engagement projects undertaken by the Department. 
  • Maintaining records of equipment, software licences, studio inventories, and related technical resources. 
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and operational procedures within the planning studio and related facilities. 
  • Performing any other duties as may be assigned by the Design Studio Lecturer, Chairperson of Department, or Dean.
