Midlands State University hosted a one-day records management workshop at the University’s Gweru Main Campus on the 27th of September2019. Organised by the Central Records and Archiving Department, the workshop was aimed at articulating how vision 2030 can be archived through proper management of records across various institutions.

Workshop facilitators included Ms Fadzai Chakauya from the MSU Faculty of Law whose presentation focused on legal issues that inform and govern the creation and maintenance of records. Ms Chakauya emphasized the importance of adhering to stipulated regulations in records management. In his presentation the MSU Central Records and Archiving Director, Mr Shepard Pondiwa, highlighted that proper records management was critical to both institutional and national development.

‘the major thrust of this workshop is to adequately point out and discuss how institutions can take advantage of the technology that is at hand, to improve records keeping and at the same time pushing forward the vision 2030,’ he said.

Mupfure Industrial Training College, Coghlan Enterprise and the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority were among institutions that attended the workshop.
