Midlands State University held its annual Corporate Golf Tournament amid calls on stakeholders to continuously render their support to the institution so that it can achieve its vision of becoming a global brand in higher education.

The call was made by the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Business Development and Administration, Professor Kadmiel H. Wekwete during the tournament’s prize-giving ceremony on Friday, 13 December 2019 at the Gweru Golf Club.

‘Our success as an institution invariably depends on the steadfast support of all our stakeholders and as the University continues on its growth trajectory, we continually look to you to partner and journey with us,’ said Professor Wekwete.

He also expressed gratitude to all the sponsors for their continued patronage of the MSU Corporate Golf Tournament and highlighted the need to broaden the scope for enhancing partnerships through sport by initiating similar tournaments in other disciplines such as football.

Gweru Golf Club Captain Mr Alex Mawere commended the University for its unwavering support of the club, through sponsoring the putting green, paying subscriptions for student golfers as well as seconding members of staff who include the Club Pro, Mr Liberty Gumisa, to assist in greens maintenance and coaching.

‘MSU in golf terms can be referred to as a consistent golfer, please continue to support this community club. We would also like to thank all of you for making this tournament a resounding success,’ he said.

To top off what was an exciting day of golf, for the first time in the tournament’s history, the 8th edition of the MSU Corporate Golf Tournament was won by a lady golfer, Mrs Nancy  Dube from Zvishavane.

The tournament was proudly sponsored by CBZ Bank, ZB Bank, Nicoz Diamond, FC Platinum Holdings, Cimas Medical Aid Society and WFDR Risk Services (Pvt) Ltd.
