The Midlands State University International and Alumni Relations Office (IARO) on Thursday the 1st of April 2021 hosted a luncheon for international students at the University’s Gweru Main Campus.
The multi-fold luncheon was aimed at welcoming new international students to their new home away from home, where they will spend the next few years of their educational lives. The event also served to introduce new students to life at Midlands State University and help both new and current students to familiarise themselves with the recently established International Students and Alumni Centre.
Addressing students during the luncheon, the Executive Director of the International and Alumni Relations, Professor A.T. Manyawu said the event was part of efforts by the IARO to ensure that international students are comfortable in both their academic and campus life.
The Executive Director further highlighted that the IARO in fulfilment of its mandate to promote the welfare of international students as well as enhance the University’s image and visibility was constantly looking to engage, connect and strengthen relations with international students so as to provide the best student experience.
Guests who attended the luncheon included the acting Deputy Registrar Academic Affairs, Mr I Gumbo and the acting Deputy Director for the Centre for Quality Assurance, Teaching and Learning, Dr L Chitanana among others.
