Please be advised that the blended Midlands State University 2021 graduation ceremony will be held on Friday, the 16th of July 2021 as follows: 

Physical Graduation Ceremony 

A physical graduation ceremony will be held at the Main Campus, Multi-Purpose Hall, in Gweru. 

The following graduands will participate in the physical ceremony:

  • All PhD/DPhil graduands
  • All Postgraduate graduands with distinctions 
  • All Undergraduate graduands with 1st Class degree passes 

Each graduand is allowed to invite ONLY ONE guest. 

Virtual Graduation Ceremony 

The rest of the graduating students shall graduate virtually by following the graduation proceedings live on Zimbabwe Broadcasting Television (ZTV), ZBC Facebook page, and University official Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/MidlandsStateUniversityZimbabwe). 

Please note, graduands are encouraged to be in their graduation attire as they follow the virtual proceedings. 

Graduands should note the following: 

Graduands and Guests are required to be seated by 0900 hours. 

Outstanding Fees: Please note that only graduands whose fees are paid in full will be allowed to attend the ceremony. The deadline for payment is the 13th July 2021. 

Graduation fee (inclusive of academic regalia) is USD 65 for Undergraduate and USD 68 for Masters graduands or the prevailing ZWL interbank equivalent and should be paid by Thursday, 15 July 2021. Payment can be made through the following modes: Cash or Swipe at MSU Cash Offices across all campuses or bank deposits:

Academic Regalia: Graduands can collect their academic regalia from the MSU Gweru Main Campus and the MSU Clothing Division located at No. 3 Trafford Rd Heavy Industrial Site Gweru, as from the 12th of July 2021. 

Dress: Graduands are advised to wear dark colours. 

Invitation cards will be available for collection at the Gweru Main Campus, from the respective Faculty Offices as from the 12th of July 2021. 

Please note, graduands are required to produce their MSU student IDs as well as their national IDs on collection of invitation cards. Invitation cards will not be issued on graduation day. 

Rehearsals for all graduands participating in the physical ceremony will be held on Thursday, the 15th of July 2021 at 1400 hours at the Gweru Main Campus. It is mandatory to attend the rehearsals in order to participate in the graduation ceremony. 

Accommodation: Limited accommodation is available on campus on a first-come, first-served basis for graduands and their guests at USD 10/ ZWL equivalent per individual/night (including linen). 

Food: No cooked food will be served to graduands and their guests. 

Covid-19 Guidelines 

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to be a serious threat despite the easing of lockdown restrictions, both locally and internationally. In that regard, graduands, staff and invited guests are requested to adhere to the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MOHCC) and World Health Organisation (WHO) COVID-19 prevention measures which include appropriate wearing of face masks, regular handwashing or sanitisation as well as keeping physical distancing. 

MSU branded face masks can be obtained from the MSU Industrial Park, 3 Trafford Road, Heavy Industrial Park, Gweru (054- 2229305) and the Academic Affairs Offices. 

MSU Security Checkpoint: All graduands and their guests will pass through an MSU Security checkpoint where their invitation cards will be verified. Only one guest per graduand holding an invitation card will be allowed into the Graduation Arena and ONLY this ONE will be entitled to a seat. 

Temporary Road Closure: Please be advised that the Town– Senga/MSU route will be closed at the Senga turn-off traffic circle after 0900 hours and thereafter all guests and graduands will have to use the Fletcher – MSU route. 

NB: Please note that the following items will not be allowed into the graduation venue: 

Lipstick and perfume containers, sharp objects, knives, ballpoint pens and cameras.
