In a bid to break the COVID-19 (C19) chain of transmission among students and in preparation for the resumption of face-to-face activities including examinations, MSU Student Representative Council (SRC) members on Tuesday the 17th of August 2021 received their first and second doses of the C19 vaccine.
Among those who were vaccinated at the University’s Gweru Main Campus, was the SRC Minister of Health, Hon. Saddam Saungweme. Speaking after receiving his jab, the Minister said vaccination will benefit both the students and the wider community.
“I want to encourage fellow students to get vaccinated at their community clinics and hospitals because vaccination saves lives. Covid-19 vaccines are extremely safe and effective and vaccination has been proven to be the key for the lifting of restrictions and a return to our daily routines,” he said.
Hon. Saungweme also highlighted that as the SRC it was their responsibility to lead from the front in an effort to create a safe and healthy learning environment.
