The School of Social Work joins the global social work community in celebrating World Social Work Day on the 15th March 2022.

It runs under the theme, ´Co-building a New Eco-Social World: Leaving No One Behind’.

The International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW) recognises the theme as a vision and action plan to create new global values, policies and practices that develop trust, security and confidence for all people and the sustainability of the planet.

The 2022 theme is relevant to the Global South where communities experience climate related challenges that include but are not limited to floods, droughts and cyclones which in turn affect the livelihoods of many.

These challenges make the current theme relevant to social workers. Social Work in the Global South works within communities that are affected and/or are potentially affected, by climate change.

As the profession co-builds a new Eco-Social World, it does not want to leave anyone behind.

The theme also recognizes the need to work with and within communities in co building a New Eco-Social World. The Midlands State University School of Social Work programmes, curriculum and scholarship commit to the 2022 World Social Work Day theme through the values and principles which enable all people to have their dignity respected through shared futures; a new Eco-Social World and not Leaving No One Behind.
