If you plant one hectare of oranges this summer, you are able to harvest about 400 fruit from each of the trees in the next five years and continue harvesting for the next 35 years. Assuming your hectare has 400 trees, you can easily harvest 160 000 oranges from year 5 onwards and for the next 35 years, guaranteeing you an income of $16 000 USD every year at 10 US cents per fruit. The yield will likely increase as the canopy of the tree grows, so will your income.
