Midlands State University Council, Vice Chancellor, management and staff extend a warm welcome to all our level 1.1 students who attended Orientation week. Midlands State University equally welcomes all our returning students back to Campus. As we come up with the new normal requirements expect to continue to mask up, to maintain social distance and get vaccinated as Covid 19 remains a reality.
Midlands State University received 1 800 level 1.1 students the majority whom were housed in the halls of residences. The returning students were also faced with the new normal where we moved from a standardized cohort system to a fairly regularized semester. Level 1.1s were prioritized in residence allocation which was done through an onsite allocation system. Returning students were required to apply for residence in the E-learning portals accordingly.
Kindly take note that the University has over 25 000 students however the University offers limited residence of 3 000 at capacity, at the various University campuses in Gweru and Zvishavane. Residence is offered to fully paid up students who are eligible to apply for Residence, thereafter one may apply and payment for accommodation is only payable once one has been successfully allocated residence. Such residence was offered and filled accordingly as a notice to open the residence application portal was made and students applied thereafter. Residence was equally prioritized for students with disabilities, International students and those on the Midlands State University Student on Employment Program.
Midlands State University is aware of the growing need for increased residence accommodation, and therefore continues to expand its infrastructure in line with the University strategic plan.
Midlands State University wishes you the best in this semester, stay safe, Covid 19 remains a reality.
Our hands, Our minds, Our Destiny.
