Midlands State University, Bulawayo – During an Integrated Results Based Management Workshop underway at Holiday Inn in Bulawayo from July 13-14, 2023, Midlands State University Vice Chancellor Professor Victor Ngonidzashe Muzvidziwa emphasized the importance of strong leadership in challenging times.
Pro-Vice Chancellor for Research, Innovation and Industrialization Professor Grace Mugumbate welcomed delegates to the two-day workshop.
In his opening remarks, Professor V. N. Muzvidziwa reflected on the University’s midyear performance against its 2023 targets.
“It is times such as these that leadership should rise to the occasion,” he remarked.
The Vice Chancellor went on to highlight key focus areas including strong governance systems, sound quality assurance, embracing technology, and evidence-based deliverables aligned with Program Based Budgeting.
He applauded the University community for its recent honours at the Presidential Excellence Awards and Presidential Innovation Fair.
Professor V. N. Muzvidziwa also emphasized creating a positive work culture, risk awareness, cost containment measures, and the qualities of good leadership.
Echoing the Vice Chancellor’s sentiments, University Registrar Mr. Tinashe Zishiri presented on improving the work environment and professional ethics.
“The emphasis is on teamwork and team building,” he said.
The two-day management workshop brought together the University’s senior leadership including Principal Officers, Executive Deans, Executive Directors, and Directors.
