On the 12th of September 2023, the Midlands State University’s highest academic board, the Senate, converged at the MSU Gweru Main Campus Chapel to pay tribute to the University’s long-serving Senior Ecumenical Chaplain Reverend Dr. M. Mpofu who served the University for over two decades and retired in 2023.
Addressing members of the Senate, the Registrar Mr. T. Zishiri, highlighted the spiritual, social and developmental contributions made by the Senior Ecumenical Chaplain to the University community which transformed students’ lives especially the disadvantaged.
The Vice Chancellor Professor Victor Ngonidzashe Muzvidziwa commended the Reverend for his dedication, humility, and commitment to the University’s diverse community.
“You ran a good race as our shepherd at this institution.
“You showed deep compassion for MSU staff and students,” the Vice Chancellor remarked.
In his response, to the Vice Chancellor, the retired Chaplain thanked the University Senate for supporting him, and the community for embracing him.
Reverend Dr. Mpofu further indicated that during his tenure, Midlands State University became his home and a platform to learn about life.
Executive Dean-Student Affairs, Ms. F. Chakauya delivered a vote of thanks and applauded the Chaplain for shaping and defining a warm yet unique MSU experience for all members of the community.
