Midlands State University kicked off a two-day orientation programme from the 19th to 20th February, 2024 at Main Campus, Gweru to acquaint new students with the University’s policies, facilities and culture.
The Executive Dean – Student Affairs, Ms. F. Chakauya urged the freshmen to become brand ambassadors of the institution and to do so with dignity and integrity as they pursue their academic ventures.
“As you embark on this academic journey, remember that you are not just students but brand ambassadors of Midlands State University,” Ms. Chakauya stated.
Delivering the welcome speech on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Pro Vice Chancellor-Academic Affairs and Administration, Professor Mcebisi Maphosa emphasised the importance of inclusivity and diversity.
“MSU is a student centric and inclusive University that brings together people from all walks of life in terms of ethnicity, nationality, race, religious beliefs and disabilities.
“Our inclusivity is what drives us and we always want to leverage our unique diversity,” remarked Professor Maphosa.
Professor Maphosa further alluded that Midlands State University strives to produce active global citizens who make a difference to society.
Throughout the orientation program, students were introduced to various academic departments, administrative offices, and support services available on campus.
As the orientation drew to a close, students were ready to embark on their academic journey, carrying the torch of excellence and upholding the institution’s reputation as they strive for personal and collective success.
