Gweru, MSU Main Campus – Consistent with its culture of immersing newly enrolled students into the University’s culture encapsulated in; policies, core values, learning & teaching, research, innovation, premium campus experience, next generation support services, opportunities and facilities, Midlands State University officially kicked off its orientation which commenced on the 29th of July 2024.
MSU Executive Dean – Student Affairs, Ms. F. Chakauya challenged the new students to become passionate ambassadors for the University, representing the institution with utmost dignity and integrity as they embark on their academic journeys.
As the new students embark on their academic journey, they were greeted with words of motivation from the University Registrar, Mr. T. Zishiri.
In his speech, the Registrar highlighted the significance of being a member of the MSU community, stating, “#WEAREMSU. Together, we are the University of first choice, your actions and our actions shape and define the University. We should take pride in being MSU. We are MSU.”
The University Registrar encouraged the students to embody the #WEAREMSU signature mantra which encompasses the spirit of the #universityoffirstchoiceforall and instills a sense of belonging and motivation for the timeless journey ahead.
Whilst addressing the first-years, MSU Vice Chancellor, Professor Victor Ngonidzashe Muzvidziwa stressed how the enrollment at the premier institution of higher learning is vital to the mordenisation and industrialisation of Zimbabwe.
“You are coming into the University at a time when the Education 5.0 philosophy that is Heritage Based and focuses on Innovation and Industrialisation, has come full circle.
“You are part of a community that is a leader in industrialisation and innovation, and also you are fortunate that you will be pursuing new academic programmes that are Education 5.0 compliant,” said Professor Muzvidziwa.
MSU Acting Chaplain, Reverent Revai Chinodakufa, delivered a closing prayer, wishing the new students the best in their academic journeys.
During the orientation programme, the new students were familiarised with the University’s academic departments, administrative offices and support services available on campus.
Orientations are necessary to familiarise new students with the University’s facilities, resources and acclimatise them to the dynamic and inclusive campus environment.
