GWERU – Midlands State University (MSU) hosted a delegation from the University of Limpopo (UL) Student Affairs from the 9th to 10th of October 2024, for a two-day benchmarking exercise to exchange knowledge on best practices for administrating student-related issues.
While welcoming the delegates, the MSU Pro-Vice Chancellor, Academic Affairs and Administration, Professor M. Maphosa highlighted the significance of student affairs divisions in catalysing student development.
“Universities should be catalysts for students to discover their passions and as MSU we are looking forward to the holistic development of students through knowledge exchange and collaborations with like-minded institutions,” indicated Professor Maphosa.
The visit included a series of presentations on extracurricular activities, ecumenical services, student residence and student support services such as counselling services, health services, and soft skills development.
Delivering her online presentation, UL Dean of Students, Dr. M. Masipa applauded MSU for availing a platform to learn on key areas of enhancing academic excellence, understanding each other’s dynamic culture, research, community engagement and career advancement of students.
On the sidelines of the event, the UL delegation applauded Midlands State University’s commitment to nurturing entrepreneurial and gender-conscious students.
Participants had a question-and-answer session to share the best practices between the two institutions.
The benchmarking exercise ended by a tour of the MSU Main Campus and facilities as part of the benchmarking exercise.
The visit marked a significant step in enhancing student well-being and the overall academic excellence between the two institutions.
