Midlands State University (MSU) concluded its annual Integrated Results Based Management (IRBM) workshop on 28 November 2024, bringing together key university leadership to comprehensively review the institution’s performance and set strategic targets for 2025.

Held at the Montclair Hotel and Casino in Nyanga, the two-day workshop saw Principal Officers and senior management critically examine the university’s achievements and challenges throughout 2024, with a focused approach on human capital development and policy administration.

In his opening address, the Vice Chancellor, Professor V. N. Muzvidziwa celebrated significant milestones, notably emphasising, “Despite the challenges we achieved milestones: we managed to fill all our executive posts, were re-accredited by ZIMCHE, and held a very successful graduation ceremony.”

The workshop, organised by the University Secretariat and Performance Contracting and Compliance department, featured detailed presentations covering various institutional outcomes.

Presenters systematically reviewed key performance indicators across governance, learning and teaching, research, innovation, and industrialisation.

Dr. D. Nemaramba – Director for University Secretariat, speaking on behalf of the Registrar, Mr. T. Zishiri, outlined the workshop’s core objectives of evaluating the university’s annual performance and establishing strategic targets for the upcoming year using the Performance Contracting Framework.

In his closing remarks, the Vice Chancellor delivered a powerful message about institutional culture and future direction.

“What remains is that all this must cascade to lower levels so that there is collective ownership of our strategy and plans,” he stated, underscoring the importance of collaborative effort.

Key discussion points included strengthening decision implementation, promoting a healthy working environment, enhancing research productivity, and improving resource mobilisation strategies.

The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks from the Pro-Vice Chancellor for Research, Innovation and Industrialisation, who acknowledged the collective effort that made the event a success.

As MSU moves forward, the insights and commitments made during this comprehensive review are expected to drive the institution’s continued growth and excellence in the coming year.
