Department of Mining Engineering

The Mining Engineering Department offers the Bachelor of Engineering Honours Degree in Mining Engineering.  The degree covers foundation courses in engineering and equips students with the ability to plan, design and operate mineral projects to recover economic mineral ores.  Students are required to obtain wide interdisciplinary skills in order to be able to safely carry out mineral extraction activities.  Social, political, economic, environmental management, safety, health related and even physiological understanding is developed in order to ensure that engineers and those they work with are able to perform work safely in varying hazardous conditions without harm to personnel, the community and environment while delivering value for human development.
