FACULTY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
Department of Applied Physics and Telecommunications
Post A: Technician (1 post)
Qualifications and Experience
- A National Diploma in Instrumentation and Control or equivalent.
- A Higher National Diploma / B.Tech / B.Eng / BSc Honours Degree in Instrumentation and Control or equivalent would be an added advantage.
- At least three (3) years relevant working experience in a tertiary institution, research institute or relevant industry.
- Certification in PLCs and DCS systems is an added advantage.
- Should be familiar with of VSDs programming and deployment.
- Proficiency in use of packages such as: Matlab, Comsol and Maple.
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate would be required, among other duties, to:
- Develop laboratory policies, strategies and new laboratory test procedures.
- Upgrade laboratory technologies, techniques, skills and protocols whenever required as well as to maintain, calibrate and repair laboratory equipment.
- Prepare annual progress reports of the laboratory and implement laboratory safety and quality control.
- Maintain laboratory inventory and coordinate purchasing of all laboratory supplies and equipment.
- Assist students’ practical and offering technical assistance to students during their projects.
- Offer techicinal assistance to students and lecturers in cutting edge research work.
- Do any other duties as assigned by superiors.
Post B: Senior Technician (1 post)
Qualifications
- National Diploma in Applied Biological Technology or equivalent.
- An HND or Degree in a relevant area is an added advantage.
- At least one year of post-qualifying working experience as a technician.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Preparing and running practicals for Biological Sciences and Biotechnology undergraduate modules.
- Procurement of reagents, equipment and services for the department.
- Calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- General maintenance of laboratories in the department.
- Participation in community engagement projects.
- Any other business assigned by the department.
Post C: Laboratory Assistant (1 post)
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- National Certificate in Applied Biological Technology or equivalent
- National Diploma in Applied Biological Technology or equivalent is an added advantage
- Working experience in relevant fields is an added advantage.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assisting in preparing and running practicals for Biological Sciences and Biotechnology undergraduate modules.
- Assisting in procurement of reagents, equipment and services for the department.
- Assisting in the calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Assisting in the general maintenance of laboratories in the department.
- Assisting in the execution of community engagement projects.
- Any other business assigned by the department.
- Cleaning apparatus, and lab space.
