The duties and responsibilities of a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate

Professor/Professor and Staff Development Fellows are grouped into 5 main categories which are:

(a)Teaching–the incumbent is expected to teach or deliver lectures in accordance to the Department and or Faculty guidelines and standards.

(b)University Service and Community engagement–the incumbent should participate in all Department, Faculty/School and University activities such as attending meetings, training workshops, conferences and seminars, among others.

(c)Research–the incumbent is expected to engage in active research in his/her area of specialization which benefits both the students and the University.

(d)Innovations–leading to tangible products and services

(e)Industrialisation–through commercialization of products

FACULTY OF BUSINESS SCIENCES

Department of Information and Marketing Sciences

Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer/ Associate Professor/ Professor in Marketing (2 Posts: Harare Campus)

Qualifications

  • First degree in Marketing with at least a 2.1 pass
  • Masters’ Degree in Marketing or its equivalent
  • A PhD in Marketing would be an added advantage
  • An appropriate research and publication record
  • Experience of teaching at higher and tertiary level

Duties and responsibilities

The successful candidate should be able to supervise students’ research, assess students on Work Related Learning, and should be able to teach at least two (2) of the following modules in the:

Undergraduate levels

  • Market Analytics and Decision Marketing
  • Neuroprenuership
  • New Product and Service Innovation
  • Consumer Data Analytics

Postgraduate levels: Accounting for Managers and Nuero-marketing aspects

Professor/ Associate Professor/ Senior Lecturer/ Lecturer in Data Science and Informatics (2 Posts:  Harare Campus)

Qualifications

  • First degree in Data Science and Informatics or its equivalent with at least a 2.1 pass
  • Masters’ Degree in Data Science and Informatics or its equivalent.
  • PhD in Data Science and Informatics or its equivalent would be an added advantage
  • An appropriate research and publication record
  • Experience of teaching at higher and tertiary level

Duties and responsibilities

The successful candidate should be able to supervise students’ research, assess students on Work Related Learning, and should be able to teach at least two (2) of the following modules: 

  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Introduction to Media Application Development
  • Human Computer Interaction
  • Simulation and modelling
  • Network Management
  • Natural Language Processing
  • Introduction to python
  • R Programming and Computer Vision.

Department of Information and Marketing Sciences

  (3 Posts: Staff Development Fellow (SDF)

Qualifications

  • At least a Bachelor’s Degree (Distinction) in either Information systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, or Related Fields.
  • Proficiency in data tools such as R, Power BI, Orange, Tableau, Excel, Python, etc.
  • Resourceful and keeps up-to-date with changes in the field of statistics, analytics, and data visualization.
  • Able to foster strong collaboration with colleagues. 
  • A strong analytical mind, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for data are essential.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development is a must.

Duties and Responsibilities

The candidate must be able to teach at least two (2) of the following modules: 

  • Data Analytics
  • Machine Learning
  • Human Computer Interaction
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Data analytics and visualization
  • Optimisation Techniques and Applications
  • Introduction to Python
  • Information Representation and Enterprise Architecture
