Please note that the duties and responsibilities of a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor and Professor are grouped into 5 main categories which are:

(a) Teaching – the incumbent is expected to teach or deliver lectures in accordance to the Department and or Faculty guidelines and standards.

(b) University Service – the incumbent should participate in all Department, Faculty and University activities such as attending meetings, training workshops, conferences and seminars, among others.

(c) Research – the incumbent is expected to engage in active research in his/her area of specialization which benefits both the students and the University 

(d)  Innovations – leading to tangible products and services

(e)  Industrialization –through commercialization of products

FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES 

Department of Geography, Environmental Sustainability and Resilience Building 

Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor and Professor (1 post) 

Qualifications 

  • BSc Honours Degree in Safety, Health and Environmental Management, Environmental Safety, Health and Quality Management, Occupational Hygiene, Environmental Health/Public Health or Environmental Sciences with at least a 2.1 pass. 
  • Master of Science Degree in Safety, Health and Environmental Management, Occupational Hygiene, Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Health or Public Health with at least a Merit. 
  • Relevant PhD/DPhil.
  • At least one (1) year of industrial experience practicing in the field of occupational health, safety and environmental management, environmental health or public health or at least three (3) years university teaching experience in the same field.
  • Relevant professional courses in the environment, safety and health, occupational hygiene and sustainability fields will be an added advantage. 

Duties and Responsibilities 

The Candidate must be capable of teaching the following modules at post-graduate levels:

  • Environmental Epidemiology
  • Safety, Health and Environmental Laws and Regulations
  • Occupational Hygiene and safety 
  • Principles of Environmental Social Governance
  • Food Safety Management

The applicant must also be able to supervise undergraduate and post graduate dissertations.
