Dr Gift Manyatera is a registered legal practitioner, conveyancer and notary public. He has previously worked as a Law Officer in the then Attorney General’s office as well as in private practice as a legal practitioner before joining Midlands State University, Faculty of Law in 2005. He has vast experience in academia having held several positions over the years including having led the Faculty of Law as Executive Dean for 14 years. He is a holder of an LLD from the University of Pretoria, South Africa, an LLM(cum laude) from the University of Turin, Italy, a Master of Science in Comparative Law, Economics and Finance from the International University College of Turin, Italy and an LLB from the University of Zimbabwe. His broad research area is predominantly in the public law realm where he has undertaken several consultancies over the years. He is also an expert in intellectual property. He has vast experience in teaching and supervising post graduate students. He has published extensively on constitutional law aspects. He is an examiner with the Council for Legal Education. He is also a member of the Editorial Committee for the Zimbabwe Law Reports. He has previously been appointed a Commissioner for constitutional enquiries. He is also a recipient of an outstanding law academic leader award.
