
Ms Nyarai Patience Chibanda is the University Librarian for the Midlands State University. She has over 20 years of experience working in the higher education environment. She holds a Master of Science Degree in Library and Information Science obtained from the National University of Science and Technology and is currently studying towards a PhD in Information Science with the University of Kwazulu Natal. Her current leadership roles include being an elected member of the inaugural International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) Sub – Saharan Africa Regional Division Committee. She is also the Chairperson of Zimbabwe University Libraries Consortium Conference Organising Committee. Furthermore, Ms Chibanda is the chairperson of the Zimbabwe University Libraries Consortium ICT Working Group, a member of the Zimbabwe Library Association (ZimLA) and the Zimbabwe International Book Fair (ZIBF) General Council. She also sits on the Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University (ZEGU) Council and is the current chairperson of the ZEGU Strategic Information Technology Committee. Additionally, she is the immediate past chairperson of the African Library and Information Associations and Institutions (AFLIA) Academic and Special Libraries Section as well as the immediate past chairperson of the Zimbabwe University Libraries Consortium. She is also a past president of the Rotary Club of Gweru where she is still an active member.
Her research interests are in the marketing of library services and the use of Information Communication Technologies in libraries.
