Ellen Mlambo, a Media and Society Studies student who was on Work Related Learning with The Mirror newspaper, flew the University flag with distinction after scooping the Best Road Safety Student Reporter of the Year (2015) Award at a function hosted by the Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe at Cresta Lodge in Harare recently.
She beat 31 other entrants from newspapers throughout the country to scoop top honours. For her efforts, Ellen received a trophy, a certificate, $1000 in prize money and hampers from Econet and Delta Corporation.
Mlambo received her award from the Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Development, Engineer Michael Madanha who was also the guest of honour at the event.
The awards were held under the theme: Eradicating human error in road traffic collisions.
