As part of continuing efforts to enhance the quality of research within the University, the Midlands State University Faculty of Education is currently engaging the Faculty of Education from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in South Africa.

To this end, Professor Sylvan Blignaut (Head Research and Engagement)and Dr Eileen Schekle from Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) Faculty of Education visited the Midlands State University (MSU) between 22 and 23 March 2017 to explore the possibility of funded collaborative research between NMMU and MSU faculty of education academics.

The visit was also intended to create a data base of senior MSU Faculty of Education personnel who can be engaged as examiners for masters and PhD theses at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University.

To cap off the visit, Dr Eileen Schekle presented a paper entitled ”Creating intersections for dialogic engagement and participation between a rural and university community in the context of education.” The paper presentation was attetnded by members of staff from the Faculty of Education led by the Executive Dean of the Faculty, Professor E. Chauraya.
