On the 28th of June 2017, Bata Shoe Company Managing Director Mr Zaman Ehasan accompanied by his wife Dr Sharmin Parveen, Associate Professor for the Department of Health Informatics at Bangladesh University of Health Sciences paid a courtesy call on the Midlands State University Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor V. N Muzvidziwa.
The call came in as part of efforts to strengthen stakeholder engagements between the institution and its various stakeholders. During the discussions Dr Sharmin Parveen indicated interests in exploring possible areas of collaborations and partnerships between Bangladesh University of Health Sciences and Midlands State University.
Bata Shoe Company has contributed immensely to the growth of the institution as it is one of the major organisations that adopts MSU students due for Work Related Learning. Bata has also been of major significance in the economic growth of the country through establishment of various Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs). To date, 5 SMEs have benefited from its community engagement programme.
