 Short Course in Cultural and Natural Heritage Tourism

Rationale for the Course

Tourism offers great opportunities for emerging economics and developing countries. It has the potential to contribute to sustainable development of local communities. In-order to realize the full benefits of heritage tourism there is need to cultivate an appreciation of heritage resources, heritage management and fulfilling the needs of tourists. This course is designed to introduce students to the history, culture of places and people, through the lens of intangible and tangible heritage as well as natural heritage landscapes. This course builds the consciousness of students into understanding how to interface with local and foreign tourists from various environments and a deep respect for places of interest. This course is designed for anyone interested in cross-cultural tourism and the protection of heritage sites.

Course Content

Introduction to Cultural and Natural Heritage, Heritage Management and Sustainability, Communication and Visitor Studies, Itinerary Planning and Tour Management, Heritage Marketing and Heritage Business and Consultancy.

  2. Entry Requirements-5 ‘O’ level subjects including English Language
  3. Course fee- USD 100
  4. Course Duration- 12 weeks
  5. Mode of Delivery-Virtual Class Lectures (Online lectures)
  6. Class hours-9am-12 Mid-day
  7. Completion Award-Certificate of Completion
