Midlands State University Industrial Park has made waves after receiving an award of achievement in the Occupational Safety and Health Competition at the 60th National Annual Conference on Safety and Health at Work held from the 4th to the 6th of October 2023, at Elephant Hills Resort, Victoria Falls.

The prestigious award was presented by Zimbabwe Occupational Safety and Health Council in conjunction with National Social Security Authority (NSSA) under the theme, “Safe and healthy work environment: A fundamental principle and right at work”.

Midlands State University Industrial Park houses three units under the MSU Enterprises; Clothing and Textile, Chemical Manufacturing and Food Processing.

This award recognizes the University’s commitment to creating a safe and healthy working environment for all employees and stakeholders.

The conference provided a platform for the exchange of experiences, practices, and expert knowledge on creating hazard-free work environments and fostered strategic partnerships for innovation and practical ideas for accident prevention in the workplace.

Director-Marketing and Communications department Mrs. M. Mawere and Director-Risk and Loss Control department Ms. G. Mvududu represented Midlands State University at the conference.

This award is a significant milestone for Midlands State University, and it underscores the University’s commitment to prioritising safety and health in all aspects of its operations.

The university will continue implementing new ideas and strategies to further improve its safety record and create a safe and healthy working environment for all.
