Midlands State University Faculty of Science and Technology showcased innovative research at a research seminar held at the Gweru Main Campus on the 15th of December 2023.
Faculty members and students gathered to share their research findings contributing to the advancement of scientific knowledge and innovation.
The seminar commenced with the Executive Dean-Science and Technology, Dr. A. Nechibvute’s keynote address read on his behalf by the Computer Sciences Chairperson, Dr. M. Giyane; who stated that the purpose of the event was to showcase the remarkable work of researchers and to present their findings.
“It is an occasion to learn from each other, to challenge existing theories, and to explore new avenues of research.
“By sharing our expertise, we strengthen the bond that unites us as scholars and pave the way for future breakthroughs,” remarked Dr. Giyane.
The event showcased a number of breakthroughs, from novel chemical conversions to potential anti-malarial compounds, advanced sensing technologies, and geological mapping.
As each presentation concluded, the audience engaged in vibrant discussions, sharing their perspectives and expertise.
The question-and-answer sessions provided an invaluable platform for constructive critique and the exchange of knowledge, fostering a collaborative and intellectually stimulating environment.
In her closing remarks, Applied Biosciences and Biotechnology Chairperson, Dr. R. J. Mapaya, emphasised the significance of their research in driving societal progress and encouraged them to persevere in the pursuit of scientific excellence.
The dissemination of knowledge and the spirit of collaboration prevailed, ensuring that the quest for scientific advancement remains an indomitable force at the University.
