Ms. Nyarai Patience Chibanda

Position: Librarian

Ms. Nyarai Patience Chibanda is the University Librarian for the Midlands State University.  She has over 20 years of experience working in the higher education environment. She holds a Master of Science in Library and Information Science from the National University of Science and Technology. She is currently studying towards a PhD in Information Science.  Her current leadership roles include being elected to the inaugural International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) Sub-Saharan Africa Regional Division Committee.  Furthermore, Ms Chibanda is the Chairperson of the Zimbabwe University Libraries Consortium Information Communication Technology Work Group, a member of the Zimbabwe Library Association (ZimLA), and She also sits on the Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University (ZEGU) Board and is the current Chairperson of the ZEGU Strategic Information Technology Committee.  Additionally, she is a past Chairperson of the African Library and Information Associations and Institutions (AFLIA) Academic and Special Libraries Section and a Past President of the Rotary Club of Gweru. She is an emerging researcher with research interests in marketing library services, Open Science and Scholarship, and the use of Information Communication Technologies in libraries.
